STEPHAN-MARIA AUST
Stephan has exhibited extensively across Europe and since relocating from Germany to the Isle of Harris has exhibited across Scotland and the Western Isles.
His work is conceptual and he uses photography to meticulously record moments in time and place. In 'Fade Away' he presents both the photographic with the object, providing an assemblage which will overtime deteriorate, through decay and age.
'Scapa', again records a moment, this time from 100 years ago, when the German WWI Fleet was scuttled in the bays of Scapa Flow. His underwater photography was awarded the Apache Prize by the Aberdeen Artists Society in February 2018.
Also showing at Baile na Cille are 'Helterskelter', a triptych of moon images which are taken in different european countries, 'Sandlantic', unique moments created by sand and water and 'Compressed Air' a huge beautifully created underwater image.
